General Info
Welcome to this iconic Kapiti event that began in November 1983 as the Kapiti Women's Triathlon to encourage women and girls to get out and have a go, focussing on fitness and health. It, along with the Marlborough Women's Triathlon, was the precursor to the range of commercially run women only events available today. We have remained true to our community roots and this event is run by women for women, with help from many volunteers, community groups and local businesses.
This is a fun event for women and girls. The emphasis is on a friendly, affordable non-competitive triathlon. We consider every entrant getting to the start line is a winner. A range of options are available including:
• Individual and team Triathlon & Duathlon • Half-distance individual and team events • Swim/Cycle • Swim/Run
Distances
Triathlon Full Course: 400 metre swim, 12 km cycle, 4 km walk or run

Safety is our priority, especially with the cycle leg. Minimum age for doing swim and run/walk is 8 and for doing the cycle leg you need to be 12 and older and familiar with riding on the road. So 8 – 11 year olds you can be in the teams or ‘Have a Go’ Fun Run/Walk event – get Mum to do the cycle for you . You can be a team of 2 or 3.

NEW for 2011 - Competitive Wave
For a number of years, we’ve had a few participants ask if they would be able to race each other rather than just the age group wave they are assigned to. Whilst we know the focus for majority is not necessarily to be first across the line, we think it’s fair that those who do, are given the chance.
We want to stress that this will in no way change the flavour of this event. We hope it will just give an extra dimension to those wanting a bit more than racing within their age group.
•You need to opt in on your entry form to compete in the competitive wave.
•This wave will start first & is open to FULL DISTANCE TRIATHLON & DUATHLON ENTRANTS ONLY.
•It will consist of anyone from any age group who would prefer to 'test themselves' against other more competitive participants.
•There will NOT be separate awards for this wave.
•There will not be specific results for this wave (results will still be recorded in your age group).
•This wave is intended for those that may have done several events previously and/or who expect to complete the event in around or less than 1hr 15min (triathlon) or under 1hr (duathlon)
•Feel free to contact us if you want further clarification on this wave.
